What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your browser or device when you visit. They help the site remember information about your session — such as whether you are logged in — and can be used to analyze how visitors interact with the platform or to serve relevant advertisements.

OurVaya also uses browser localStorage, which stores data directly in your browser without sending it to a server on each request. We use it to preserve your game state, daily completion status, and streak data between sessions.

Cookies We Use

Auth.js session cookie: Maintains your authenticated login session. Required for the platform to function. Type: Essential. Duration: Session (expires on logout or browser close).

localStorage — game state: Saves in-progress game data so your work is not lost if you navigate away. Type: Essential. Duration: Persistent (browser-controlled).

localStorage — streak data: Tracks your daily activity streak on-device. Type: Essential. Duration: Persistent (browser-controlled).

localStorage — daily completion: Records whether you have completed the daily game for a given calendar day. Type: Essential. Duration: Persistent (browser-controlled).

Microsoft Clarity: Session recording and heatmap analytics. Records mouse movement, clicks, and scroll behavior to help us improve usability. Sensitive pages (/account, /credentials, /profile) are masked and excluded from recording. Type: Analytics. Duration: Up to 1 year.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Tracks page views, user journeys, and in-platform events to help us understand how features are used. Type: Analytics. Duration: Up to 2 years (GA4 default).

Google AdSense: Serves display advertisements on platform pages (entrepreneur profiles, explore pages). AdSense may use cookies to show you relevant ads based on your interests or your previous visits to this and other websites. AdSense does not show ads on /decision/* game pages. Type: Advertising. Duration: Up to 13 months.

Stripe: Payment processing cookies set only on checkout pages. Used to detect fraud and support secure transaction handling. Type: Functional (checkout only). Duration: Session / short-term.

Analytics and Advertising

Microsoft Clarity collects session recordings and aggregated heatmap data solely to identify usability issues. Sensitive routes (/account, /credentials, /profile) are permanently masked from all recordings.

Google Analytics 4 collects anonymized data about how users navigate ourvaya.com. We do not use GA4 for advertising purposes or audience targeting.

Google AdSense serves display advertisements on non-game pages. Google uses cookies to serve relevant ads based on your interests. If you prefer, you can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting adssettings.google.com. If you decline cookies via our consent banner, we instruct AdSense to serve non-personalised ads only.

Stripe places functional cookies during the checkout flow to support payment security and fraud prevention. These are active only on checkout pages.

Your Choices

Essential cookies and localStorage cannot be disabled. The Auth.js session cookie is required to keep you logged in, and the localStorage values listed above are required for core game features to function.

Analytics and advertising cookies (Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics, Google AdSense) are optional. When you first visit ourvaya.com, a consent banner will ask for your permission before these cookies are set. You may decline at that time. If you decline, we request that Google AdSense serves non-personalised ads only.
